REPAIRS
In the event of an extremely rare gearbox failure, our experienced service team is available at short notice to record the damage, assess it and analyze the possible cause of the damage. Once the external condition has been assessed, the decommissioned gearbox is professionally opened and dismantled. The gearbox must be delivered to Koellmann Gear for repair or general overhaul. Damage to the components is documented and parts that show no damage are checked and measured. We then make a cost assessment from the point of view of cost-effectiveness, which results in a repair offer.
Once the repair or general overhaul has been approved, the gearbox is repaired as quickly as possible in order to keep the system downtime to a minimum. In addition to replacing defective components such as seals, roller bearings and gears, it often makes sense to rework rotor parts. This may involve, for example, regrinding shaft seal kits or bushings for housing bearing seats. After professional assembly, the overhaul gearbox is subjected to a functional and leak test in the form of a test run to ensure fault-free operation. Koellmann Gear is always at your disposal as a partner with all the resources required for a cost-effective repair. This also applies to third-party gearboxes.
INSPECTION
We keep your production going
In order to make downtimes predictable, we offer our customers the opportunity to record the condition of the gearbox through an inspection. During operation, we use vibration analyses to determine the frequency spectrum and noise measurements to determine the sound power level, which allows us to gain initial insights into the condition of the bearings and gearing. Further findings can be obtained by using a thermal imaging camera.
In addition, an endoscopy or videoscopy can be carried out when the vehicle is at a standstill in order to visually determine the condition of the components inside the gearbox. In addition, it makes sense to document the wear parameters in the form of material and dirt particles as well as water content by means of an external oil analysis. The results found and the overhaul and/or modification options that may be required as a result are described in inspection documentation, which also includes a catalog of measures with a quotation.
Inspections of this type should be carried out annually in order to record comparisons and changes based on the parameters, from which any need for action for preventive maintenance can be derived. We would be happy to provide you with an inspection offer, please contact us!
MAINTENANCE
For long service life and to avoid breakdowns
The maintenance of a gearbox unit should be carried out at regular intervals by our service personnel. This ensures the longest possible service life and low wear of the serviced gearboxes. This also includes compliance with the oil change intervals specified on the rating plate.
Professional maintenance is an integral part of our warranty.
During maintenance, the general condition of the gearbox is first determined. Depending on the findings, the further procedure is agreed with the system operator, which includes, for example, function-preserving cleaning, a differentiated examination for leaks, a temperature measurement with the resulting optimization of the cooling or the replacement of the lubricant.
Minor defects can often be repaired cost-effectively as part of regular maintenance work. We would be happy to create a customized maintenance and repair concept with our customer and/or the system operator – just get in touch!
CONVERSION AND RETROFITTING
Your partner for conversion, retrofitting, partial and general overhauls
A gearbox is often in use for decades, with the required performance potential frequently changing over the course of its life cycle. An increase or change in the performance parameters does not necessarily have to result in a replacement with a larger gearbox; the drive unit can often be upgraded or retrofitted at low cost.
Such an upgrade can include various additional devices or the replacement of components – for example, increasing the cooling capacity by enlarging the internal cooling coil or by adding an external cooling unit to control the temperature of the lubricating oil. If it is an important system that must not come to a standstill under any circumstances, monitoring elements can also be retrofitted. These include, for example, pressure switches, temperature and flow monitors for lubricant monitoring, particle counters in conjunction with filter units or even complete oil lubrication cooling units in a modular design.

As a special gearbox manufacturer that offers a wide range of gearboxes, we cannot stock all spare parts for all special solutions.
Standard components are available just-in-time. In the case of customer-specific spare parts, these are manufactured by suppliers working in partnership with us and delivered promptly.
This enables us to offer our customers a fast and unbureaucratic service despite the high specification of the individual gearbox parts.
