Oil press gearbox

Oil press gearboxes from Koellmann Gear are specially developed for the special requirements of oil press systems:

• Absorption of the axial forces generated during the pressing process by the thrust bearing integrated in the gearbox

• Consideration of the sensitive requirements of the food industry in the design and construction of the gearbox: Guaranteed sealing of the output shafts with up to three different sealing elements, e.g. the worm-side shaft sealing rings are fitted with food-compatible grease

The gearboxes are used in oil presses to process seeds, nuts and kernels. This oil made from natural products is also used in food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals as well as in energy and biotechnology. Due to the low pressing temperature and gentle pressing, the oil is characterized by a very high quality and can be used as edible oil without further treatment.

Oils for food

A central area of application is the use of cold-pressed oil as cooking oil. The oils make an important contribution to a healthy diet with regard to the fatty acids omega 3 and omega 6 as well as vitamin E, for example. A special feature of cold pressing is the extensive preservation of the ingredients and the pure taste, e.g. in linseed oil, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, grape seed oil and nut oil.

Oils for the pharmaceutical industry

In the pharmaceutical sector, vegetable oils are used as a remedy or as a dietary supplement in the form of capsules. Vegetable oils are also used for skin diseases or damage, e.g. as evening primrose oil capsules, black cumin oil shampoo and rosehip seed oil cream.

Oils for cosmetics

As a base in creams or ointments, certain active ingredients are intended to accelerate the skin’s ability to regenerate and improve the skin’s ability to absorb moisture.

Technical oils

In biotechnology, vegetable oils are used in the production of technical plastics or as surfactants in the production of cleaning agents. In addition, vegetable oils can be used sustainably as an alternative fuel for combustion engines, saw chain oil, paints, lubricating oil and hydraulic oil.

Animal feed

Even the pressed nut cake, which remains in the form of pellets after processing, is still used as animal feed or as an additive in the production of chocolates, pralines or cookies.
