Ever since the mechanical workshop G. Köllmann GmbH was founded on July 18, 1904, Koellmann products have been known for their high precision and quality. Just a few years later, the company became the first address in Germany for the manufacture of rear axle bevel gears and automotive transmissions.
Constructive basis
All gearboxes are designed by us using state-of-the-art calculation tools for gearbox systems. The overall systems are modelled, parameterized and calculated taking the gearbox environment into account. KISSSoft is used to design and optimize all critical transmission components, such as gearing, shafts, bearings and connecting elements.
Flexible gearbox options
The special solutions, which are always tailored to the customer’s specific requirements, allow maximum flexibility in the specifications – whether it is a matter of horizontal, vertical or inclined installation positions, special input and output shaft designs or external or internal cooling. Even gearbox-motor combinations are possible.

Oil as a machine element
The use of the right gear oil is crucial for the safe and trouble-free operation of any gearbox. Koellmann Gear is on hand to advise customers on how to achieve an optimum lubricant supply. If required, the gearboxes can also be supplied with an oil filling. Even special oils such as food-grade H1 oils and high-temperature oils can be used on request.
Research & Development
Koellmann Gear attaches great importance to research and development. As part of continuous improvement, quality issues identified by quality assurance are systematically analyzed and measures are taken to prevent recurrence in the future. Existing series are optimized according to the latest research results and tests. The focus here is on

- Load distribution and edge correction
- Power flow and efficiency / heat balance
Continuously improved services
High availability of operating equipment is essential for every system operator. This is why Koellmann Gear attaches particular importance to worldwide service. In the event of damage, it is important to provide the customer with fast and unbureaucratic assistance, even for gearboxes from other manufacturers. A 24/7 hotline and service stations on several continents allow short response times and worldwide service assignments. The spare parts supply is designed for just-in-time delivery of standard components; customer-specific components are provided promptly.
Our service portfolio is constantly being developed in the direction of greater service friendliness and also includes inspections including endoscopy or videoscopy, oil tests and frequency analysis, maintenance (including function-preserving cleaning), the retrofitting and upgrading of gearboxes in existing systems, repairs, detailed damage analyses and training of operating personnel.
Quality assurance (ISO 9001 certified)
Koellmann Gear makes no compromises when it comes to the quality of its gearboxes. This means that the highest level of safety can be guaranteed for the gearboxes produced. The quality management system is certified to ISO 9001. All employees see themselves as quality assurers at their respective workplaces. Production-related quality checks are carried out after each construction stage. Test benches are available for functional and leak testing of ongoing production and for checking new developments.
The quality of the material used is also crucial to the top quality of our gearboxes. We therefore work exclusively with proven and certified suppliers. We use compact, rigid ferrocast monobloc housings and place the highest demands on all components and input materials, such as castings, rolling bearings, sealing rings and lubricants. This enables us to guarantee our brand promise at all times.
Condition monitoring
Koellmann Gear offers intelligent gearbox monitoring systems to integrate gearboxes into the industry standard 4.0:
- Particle counting
- Continuous vibration measurement and monitoring
- Temperature monitoring
- Regular grease and oil analyses (OELCHECK)
This means that unplanned downtimes can be avoided and maintenance can be carried out in a condition-oriented manner, thus ensuring maximum system availability.
