The pioneers of service life calculation were the rolling bearing manufacturers, who provided designers with the formulas for calculating the “nominal bearing service life” decades ago. Today, testing individual components under operating conditions is the method used to make statistically verified statements about service life under various parameters. Koellmann Gear, the gearbox manufacturing division of Thielenhaus Technologies GmbH, offers a range of test bench gearboxes up to 1 MW tensioning power or 10,000 rpm or 10 kNm, based on many years of design experience in this field.

Test benches are usually designed and constructed for a specifically defined test task, e.g.
