APPLICATIONS
After sheet metal has been rolled out, e.g. for the automotive industry, it is wound into a coil and stress-relieved. When the sheet metal coil cools, the structure of the material is changed in such a way that coil curvature, transverse curvature, edge waves, one-sided waves, coil breaks and center waves can occur during unrolling. The sheets cannot be further processed with these defects. For this reason, straightening machines are used before the sheets are finally processed. The material to be straightened is subjected to mechanical alternating bends in the machine. The strength of the alternating bends is reduced as the material exits the machine. The more straightening rollers, the higher the number of alternating bends and the more alternating bends, the better the straightening result. Depending on the result, there are straightening machines with five rollers for thicker sheets, up to 15 or more rollers for thin sheets.
